Something big is coming to the Gregory School’s neighborhood. Construction continues on a lot located on the southeast corner of the intersection of River and Craycroft Roads right before the bridge that leads to TGS over the wash.

But very few students at TGS know what is being built next to the popular QuikTrip gas station also located on that corner. Intense construction has been going on for several months since last fall.

Without telling them anything, I decided to ask my fellow Chant staff members what they thought is going in. They let their imaginations run wild with ideas about what they think the area will become. Journalism teacher Robert Mossman and Chant Editor-in-Chief Ben Petersen agreed that they thought it would be a hotel.

“I didn’t know there was construction on River and Craycroft,” Production Editor Karam Katariya said. Senior Sam Groskind said, “I’ve heard it’s going to be a hotel.” Reporters Natalie Armstrong and Valerie Yarova predicted a hotel, while Copy Desk Chief said, “I don’t even know where that is.”

Design Editor Jack Null said, “I don’t know. A movie theater would be nice there.” Reporter Grace He predicted “a fast food restaraunt,” while Hannah Emami predicted “a restaraunt.”

And sophomore Caroline Zlaket said, “I think they’re building some complex or something.” After doing research on the project, I know that Zlaket’s guess is probably closest to what the completed development will look like.
