It’s no secret that Taylor Swift’s ability to write and perform music is incredible, but her influence beyond music is where she truly shines.

Taylor has been in the spotlight for over 10 years. Despite the fame and chaos that surround her, Taylor has never failed to show her fans who she truly is.

She is not just the world’s top-earning celebrity of 2016 and a 10 time Grammy winner, but a human being with a heart and soul, who is constantly trying to make this world a better place.

Taylor learned at an early age that she had the opportunity to use her celebrity as a force for good. Taylor has been named the most charitable celebrity for four years straight.

She donated $50,000 to a fan fighting leukemia and $1 million to help people struggling after the recent Louisiana floods. She wrote a song called “Ronan” dedicated to a mom who lost her 4 year old son to cancer, and all the proceeds went into helping fight childhood cancer.

In 2014, Taylor began to interact with fans through social media. From making a playlist of songs for a girl going through a heartbreak to making jokes on Tumblr, Taylor found new ways to get in touch with her fans.

After lurking on fans’ profiles, she sent a number of them packages for what became known as “Swiftmas.” These packages included handwritten notes and gifts specifically chosen for each fan.

What’s more, at what are referred to as the 1989 secret sessions, Taylor invited 89 fans to each of her four houses (and even her hotel room in London) to listen to her album 1989, weeks before its release. She took the time to talk and take pictures with each and every fan and had a dance party in her living room with all of them.

For all the haters who make fun of Taylor Swift’s award show dancing, just know that she is having more fun than you.

There’s no doubt that Taylor loves her fans. She continues to go out of her way to share moments and create memories with those who have brought her into their own lives.

But given some of the recent events regarding Taylor, some people have questioned her intentions.

I’m not going to lie: after the drama that went down with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, I was a little confused by the way she handled it.

For those who don’t know, Kanye West’s song ‘Famous’ features the line, “I think that me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.” Taylor was never made aware that she was going to be referred to as “that bitch,” but she did know of the previous lyric, as Kanye called her asking for permission.

I do think Taylor was playing along with the public’s reaction to the lyrics, which is why she never revealed that she knew about the song beforehand.

Taylor certainly had the right to be upset, but there was a better way to handle it.

Do I know what that way is? No, of course not. None of us knows.

Let me just say that shattering glass, chewing, and swallowing it would’ve been less painful than being a Taylor Swift fan that night.

With every move she makes, Taylor is being watched. No matter what she does, she will be judged. That’s the reality of it.

Did Taylor mess up in that specific situation? Maybe. But don’t we all mess up occasionally?

People make mistakes. Everyone does.

It was a mistake seven years ago when Kanye West stormed the stage of an awards show. Taylor was receiving an award for her work when West insisted that someone else should have received it.

Taylor once said, “Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.”

I believe that is exactly what she is doing.

Her impact on my life, and many others’, goes beyond her musical talents. I found Taylor because of her music, but I’ve stayed with her because of her character.

The argument that Taylor only writes about her exes and is boy crazy is overstated. Taylor’s smash single “Blank Space” is written to reflect the perspective of the media about her as someone who is constantly looking for a new guy to write a song about.

Taylor fired back, “No one says that about Ed Sheeran. No one says it about Bruno Mars. They’re all writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life, and no one raises a red flag there.”

So wait and see. When she drops her next album, pay attention, because she’s going to take the world by storm.
